Taking it to the cloud saves money for students and university
New Mexico State University is officially “taking it to the cloud.” NMSU is joining the growing number of universities across the country adopting cloud computing to expand its students’ online learning environment. For Shaun Cooper, NMSU associate vice president and chief information officer, the change means two things: service and savings. The shift to cloud services comes at a time when funding for higher education is at an all-time low across the country and universities are looking at a variety of ways to realize savings. Cooper estimates free access to cloud computing will save NMSU about $300000 over the next four years.
